Orwell has to be rolling in his grave.
Britain already takes the lead in monitoring its own citizens. Studies indicate there are at least 4.2 million CCTV cameras in Britain – one for every 14 people. There are cameras that yell at people when they behave badly. And now this:
Government CCTV cameras to be installed in private homes
That’s right, if the government finds you to be among the worst of families expect cameras to go up in your house. Here’s some info on the program:
THOUSANDS of the worst families in England are to be put in “sin bins” in a bid to change their bad behaviour, Ed Balls announced yesterday.
They will be monitored to ensure that children attend school, go to bed on time and eat proper meals.
The Children’s Secretary set out £400million plans to put 20,000 problem families under 24-hour CCTV super-vision in their own homes.
I wonder how long it’ll be before they replace English with Newspeak.
