“You have enemies? Good, that means you stood up for something in your life”
That quote by Winston Churchill has been a guiding principle for me in my time as political activist, particularly my work here at Seton Hall. There’s no better way to know you’re doing good than people bitching about you.
My new hero, Rick Santelli certainly has that.
In a story from The Politico, at a recent news briefing, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs felt the need to personally try and call out the news analyst.
Gibbs suggested that Santelli was misinformed with his statement that the anti-foreclosure plan rewards those who took unreasonable risks while taking money from those who had been frugal. He even went so far as to sardonically make the following offer:
“Mr. Santelli has argued, I think quite wrongly, that this plan won’t help everyone…This plan helps people who have been playing by the rules. … I would encouraged him to read the president’s plan. … I’d be more than happy to have him come here to read it. I’d be happy to buy him a cup of coffee — decaf.”
Mr. Santelli, if the White House is trying to make fun of you for speaking the truth about their awful idea, you really must be getting under their skin. Keep up the good fight.
