A Little Bit of Hope

5 10 2008

I was driving to my girlfriend’s house this morning and saw something encouraging – gas at $2.99. Admittedly, it was if you were paying cash, but still. It’s been quite a while since I’ve seen it that low. If I get a chance, I’ll take a picture and upload it here.

The decline in gas prices has been pretty steady from what I’ve seen, I’m thinking that if conservatives and libertarians make that a part of their points on energy it should help come November.

There’s no issue the Dems have less credibility today than energy. Logic dictates that their policies make gas more expensive, not less. They’ve opposed lifting the bans on opening up offshore and shale oil supplies, but in spite of that, it happened anyway. And the result? Lower prices at the pump – today not 10 years from now.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make the case for the free market, and in a way that has the potential to really convince America. And if we can remind people that the free market works in energy, we can convince them it works everywhere else too!
