Sometimes I wonder. A woman was arrested in Wisconsin because she had a couple overdue library books. Yeesh, was there really nothing better for state resources to get used for? Read the story here and check out the mugshot of the “perp,” she’s hardly the hard-boiled, dyed-in-wool criminal type.
But then I remember Seinfeld and old Detective Bookman.

Well, the government coerced the good people of the state of Wisconsin out of that money fair and square– at least they were using it on something worthwhi– oh wait…
But hey, at least they’re making our country safer. You think I want to have some sicko out on the street that doesn’t return her library books? I mean, how does that reflect on our great nation if we don’t arrest the horrible criminals such as this? I feel much safer knowing that invasive police forces can arrest pretty much anyone for pretty much any reason. That kinda fear is good deterrence from any sort of straying from the straight an narrow. I mean it worked for the Soviets, didn’t it?
I mean… even though more and more we’re being forced to live in constant fear of what new rule the government will pass making it more and more difficult to even carry out daily activities, at least we’re safer, right? (If only)

Arresting a 20-year-old girl for overdue library books: Priceless. There are some things money can’t buy. For everything else, there’s oppressive statist governments.
